Active Duty Service Members (ADSMs) are not eligible to enroll in TRICARE Select Overseas. Beginning January 1, 2021, TRICARE Select Group A retirees (if you or your sponsor's initial enlistment or appointment occurred before January 1, 2018) are required to pay enrollment fees in order to maintain TRICARE coverage. TRICARE Select Overseas Retirees should <a href="https://tricare-overseas.com/beneficiaries/plans-and-programs/tricare-overseas-program-top-select/tricare-select-retirees" target="_blank">click here</a> for more information.  <h4>TRICARE Select Overseas Health Plan Option Overview:</h4> TRICARE Select Overseas is a self-managed, preferred provider organization style program that provides access to both TRICARE-authorized network and non-network providers for medically necessary TRICARE covered services. Like TRICARE Prime (stateside) options, enrollment is required. You must be enrolled in TRICARE Select Overseas to receive coverage under this benefit option. You may have an annual enrollment fee to pay, in addition to deductibles, cost-shares and copayments. Non-ADSMs can enroll in TRICARE Select Overseas as long as you are shown as eligible in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) and aren’t enrolled in TRICARE Prime Overseas or TRICARE Prime Remote Overseas. <h4>Who Qualifies For TRICARE Select Overseas?</h4> <ul> <li>Active duty family members</li> <li>Retired service members and their families</li> <li>Family members of activated Guard/Reserve members</li> <li>Non-activated Guard/Reserve members and their families who qualify for care under the <a href="http://www.tricare.mil/tamp" target="_blank">Transitional Assistance Management Program</a></li> <li>Retired Guard/Reserve members at age 60 and their families</li> <li>Survivors</li> <li>Medal of Honor recipients and their families</li> <li>Qualified former spouses</li> </ul> <h4>How Does TRICARE Select Overseas Work for Active Duty Family Members?</h4> With TRICARE Select Overseas, you manage your own health care and may generally seek care from any <a href="https://tricare-overseas.com/beneficiaries/resources/provider-search" target="_blank">overseas civilian provider</a> without a referral. However, certain services, including nonemergency inpatient admissions for substance use disorders and mental health care, require prior authorization. <a href="https://tricare-overseas.com/beneficiaries/enrollment-and-eligibility/referrals-and-authorizations" target="_blank">Click here</a> for more information. You are responsible for paying an annual deductible and copayments each calendar year.
